With the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 began a new era of Snapdragon 835-powered smartphones. Now there are a few handsets sporting the latest creation of Qualcomm that beats all of its rivals. Probably, only the iPhone 7 is capable of making a real competition to this chip. Among those handsets, we can mention the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, Xiaomi Mi 6, Nubia Z17 and the OnePlus 5 announced yesterday. The last two models are known for not only the SND835 chip but also an 8GB of RAM. So, it turns out most of the Snapdragon 835 – powered smartphones are made by Chinese manufacturers. Moreover, they have all chances to grab the title of ‘the best smartphone in the world’.

The OnePlus 5 was unleashed yesterday at a special conference. At the event, Pete Lau said it took 3 years to make this amazing device. And though it sounds quite impressive, we have to recall Xiaomi has spent up to 7 years to make the most powerful Mi phone. Anyway, the OnePlus is out and we have managed to get our hands on it. Below are the first real photos of the fifth-gen OnePlus flagship. We are offering to take a quick peek at them and get acquainted with the main design elements because the manufacturer has changed the appearance completely.

In comparison to the previous models such as the OnePlus 3/3T, this one comes with more rounded corners. I guess it’s been done to focus on female customers more. The OnePlus 3 and 3T come with a rectangular shape and it is uncomfortable for most users. Say, if you have a small palm, you won’t be able to make single-hand operations. As for the OnePlus 5, this handset is better in terms of ergonomics, and no one can complain about it.

The 16MP front shooter along with the speaker and a proximity sensor are located above the screen.

The force sensitive home button is placed below the display.

The volume rocker is on the left side. There is also a button that can be flipped to turn the ringer off.

The power button and the dual SIM card slot are on the right.

As for the back panel, the phone uses horizontally placed dual-camera design like all of its competitors including the same Mi 6 and Huawei Honor 9. The 16+20MP camera is located on the upper left side. The noise reduction microphone, as well as the dual-LED flash, are placed next to the camera. This is the first OnePlus handset that uses U-shaped antenna design. Thanks to a great job and color adjustment the antenna ribbons are almost invisible.

It’s also recommended to recall its key features. The OnePlus 5 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, Snapdragon 835 CPU, 6/8GB RAM, 64/128GB of internal memory, 16MP front camera, 16+20MP rear camera, 3300mAh battery, 4G+ network connectivity, Android 7.1.1, Oxygen OS 3.6, and it’s waterproof.

As for pricing, the OnePlus 5 is available at 2999 yuan ($439) and 3499 yuan ($512) for the 6+64GB and 8+128GB variants, respectively.
